Design Festival Highlights
24th September 2014
The London Design Festival is now over and so here are some of the interesting projects exhibited.
We arrived quite late on Friday night so we just did the Wish List at the V&A before eating. The wish list was a great display of craftsmanship in contemporary design. The ladder for Richard and Ab Rogers by Xenia Moseley, was the highlight and the object that best reflected the concept of the show.
Design Junction was interesting and filled with a great mixture of work. The light installation above, by Black Body, was a powerful and impressive product. A slightly more conceptual project by Dominic Wilcox for Mini, was the Stain glass sleeper car. Underneath this fun project is a real look into the future of mobility where autonomous driving will become an everyday convenience.
Tent London, had a great technology section by designers from Tokyo, including video glasses, sounds that respond to movement as well as augmented reality stands.
The surprise highlight was ‘New Craftsman’. It was an open shop displaying work by up and coming craftsman and was filled full of beautifully made objects. For each designer exhibiting they put together an inspiration drawer in the back room which was fascinating to rummage through.
