The Margate Manor Kitchen
There’s a little area on the Kent coast that juts out into the sea, it’s home to Margate and Broadstairs and just along the road from Whitstable. If you know this area, you will know what a treat it is to visit. Quirky, pretty, wild and yet so well connected, it's proper English seaside at its best, you can see why everyone is moving here.
Margate Manor is in the middle of nowhere, high Victorian walls hide huge borders of the tallest wafting grasses and simple oxeye daisies. Such simplicity sets the scene for stepping inside this manor house.
This home and its owners were very fortunate to have so many beautifully preserved original features. Immaculate wide floorboards, ornate cornice all intact and elegant Georgian windows. The choice to fill these big rooms with huge antique mirrors, Scandinavian classics and the odd rug was just perfect. Some people can live in a home that looks so casually thrown together, it makes the rest of us wonder why we can’t achieve such coolness so easily.
Let’s talk about the kitchen and its dark wooden Classic island, black and white marble and a perimeter of understated Shaker cupboards. Again, simplicity at its very best, a deVOL kitchen that is so unique and so desirable and is completely comfortable in its surroundings. Nothing feels overdone or too much, yet it feels opulent and rather glamorous. The chandelier was already hanging there looking beautiful when the customers bought the home, it looks so special and so right being high up in this airy, spacious room.
We are so chuffed to have these images on our website. Simple Shaker cupboards and a Classic island, and look at what has been created, a kitchen that feels so at home it's hard to believe it wasn’t there all along.
