a bit of sparkle at ‘The Mill’
25th November 2014
We are trying to keep it subtle on the Cotes Mill Christmas decorations this year, it’s nice not to bombard our customers with too much glitz when they are trying to look at kitchens. However, not to be too bar humbug we do like to add some sparkly bits and bobs. My favourites are the pink feathery birds that you can clip onto a branch, they look so soft and sweet and simple.
We also have some crazy fish, made of glass and pink, these weird little creatures work perfectly with the birds for a slightly alternative Christmas look, I like the fact you could actually use them at other times of the year too, so no hiding them away in the loft!!
These white hearts and baubles look beautiful hanging up in our entrance, on the window frame, looking out over the Mill pond. The Hearts are made from real fir cones, painted and finished with a little sparkle. They would look just as lovely in the Summer sun as the winter frost.
These pretty little glass stars are lovely too and I think the birds and fish and glass stars all scattered on a real Christmas tree would give an unusual twist and would certainly give Santa a nice change from the norm!!
We do have a Christmas tree too!!! It’s an old Bavarian hay drier that we found at an Antiques fair, it caught my eye and I thought great, we can have a tree, but not a tree!! This wobbly old thing makes a great alternative and no needles stuck in the carpet!! and when Christmas is over you can use it to hang your hats and scarfs on in the hallway. Perfect, lots of Christmas things but all usable after the big day, what could be better.
We have four Hay driers for sale at £45.00 each and all the little decorations are under £10 except the big white hearts which are £15, so get yourself over to the Mill and make sure you have a Christmas with a difference. We also have lots of unusual presents for sale, so if you’re looking for something different to give your friends and family this is the place to come. My favourite find is these original french water bottles, the ones they pop on your tray alongside a bottle of Pastis or Ricard in any french bar. I’m sure you all recognise these ubiquitous jugs and possibly the hangover that followed – yuk I hate the taste of aniseed.
There’s no stopping it, Christmas is on its way, so you might as well throw yourself into it and make sure it’s a cool one………….
