A Classic kitchen with everything, this room is so full of character and charm, it has truly epitomised and cleverly shown us all what a piece of deVOL Classic English furniture is all about. It appears as part of the original house rather than a newly fitted kitchen.
Where do we start with this room? The gentle approach to colours on the walls and cupboards, muted, dark and classic, absolutely in keeping with a property like this. The playful wallpaper with delightful images of Victorian desserts, a soft, almost faded pink in colour, it was exactly the right mix of tradition and quirkiness to give this grown-up room a little spark of fun. The terracotta floor is inspired, especially the little area in front of the cooker where the customers created the ‘look of a rug’ without the impracticalities of rugs in kitchens!
The deVOL fluted sink was the customers’ starting point and an instant must-have when they began the design process, deVOL taps and a Carrara marble worktop complete the quintessential deVOL look.
The tall ceilings allowed the customers to buy a very grand antique chandelier that is huge but not over the top, it’s not shiny or too sparkly, just subtle in a very bold and slightly bohemian way.
The final touch, and a part of the kitchen that really shone, was the copper topped kitchen table. Hand-finished and aged in our workshops, this bespoke copper has an old-world charm that simply glows. Surprisingly hard-wearing and ever-changing, this material is just perfect as the centrepiece for this hard-working family kitchen. It is glamorous, different and bound to become the next thing in deVOL interiors, it’s so beautifully understated.
