Rumy's Stoneygate Kitchen
Leafy Stoneygate in Leicester, its streets lined with beautiful period properties, is the perfect place to settle. On one of these quiet roads is Rumy and her family’s home, an elegant Edwardian house that has been renovated and updated to feel fresh, bright and supremely calm and clutter-free.
We love the smart, crisp and clean Shaker cupboards, painted in Damask with touches of our natural oak Haberdasher's furniture, this combination of wood and light paintwork is so refreshing and such a welcome change. The white cupboards and walls have really brought out the best in our handmade Crackle Metro Tiles, drawing attention to the delicate variations in tone which often go unnoticed in more contrasted and colourful spaces.
Our much loved Gaselier over the island adds a classic touch, an aspect of this kitchen design we love, mixing styles and mixing cupboards but within a very restricted colour palette. This allows you to be creative and eclectic without fear of overdoing it, it also offers a contemporary twist on a classic kitchen. Take the Aga, a very farmhouse-style range yet in white and surrounded by clean light cupboards, it suddenly becomes so chic and modern.
It was a pleasure to see so many different parts of deVOL coming together in this kitchen, from a mix of furniture ranges to accessories, and so refreshing to walk into a space that felt airy and uplifting yet still had all you need for busy family life, even an immaculately kept pantry. Oh, the joys of being as organised and creative as Rumy.
