The SW12 Kitchen
Some kitchens are soft and gentle, some kitchens are bold and full of life and character, the SW12 is the latter. As soon as we walked through the door to photograph this beauty we were excited and we knew how much our customers were going to love it. The family who own this kitchen were first lured to deVOL by our ‘Balham Kitchen’ project, an absolute favourite from a couple of years ago but still so cool and current.
The brick wall in SW12 was installed and the beautiful Lacanche cooker chosen, then everything else just fell into place, as keen cooks they wanted quality appliances and plenty of space for chopping and cooking. You will notice in the corner a very neat and stylish little pantry area, not done by deVOL but it really looks the part and with just a metre or so at the end of the room it’s a perfect little area for storage and such a cool use of space.
The worktops are Carrara marble, a little scary for some people to risk as it can mark more easily than Silestone, but it’s so worth it. This natural stone has a gloriously soft texture and its naturally mottled and cloudy appearance just feels so authentic and right for a kitchen. The paint colour is ‘Lead’, the door fittings and taps are antique brass and the cupboards are all from our standard Shaker range. With a south facing garden and a couple keen to grow vegetables and cook, this family kitchen has it all, a sunny big room with lots of living and cooking space, great storage solutions, a lovely big table for entertaining and soft squishy sofas for chilling.
