The Refectory Red Dining and Laundry Room
What a beautiful colour Refectory Red is, easy on the eye, rich and classic. It seems it is also very versatile, looking just as good in a dining area or laundry room as it does in a kitchen.
These customers had one of our Millhouse Refectory Tables and decided to have it painted in our Refectory Red paint colour, we think it’s the perfect choice. This neat and pretty dining nook with fitted window seat (not by deVOL) and the ubiquitous café chairs is such an inviting spot, all topped off with a whimsical lampshade from the wonderful Beauvamp. Textiles are definitely back, they add a soft warmth and individuality to a room, you can imagine pulling down the blind and dimming the lights to create a wonderfully cosy and atmospheric place to while away an evening.
Laundry rooms are becoming almost a given, long gone are the days of purely functional ones. Now we love to make these rooms as special as any other, adding fabrics and accessories in order to make our chores a little more fun. The tongue and groove backboards, Shaker cupboards and open shelves are reminiscent of traditional utility rooms, we always embrace the past, it’s what deVOL is all about. Even the flooring is traditional, simple square quarry tiles from our sister company, Floors of Stone.
Hiding away appliances in full height Shaker cupboards is always a good option, there is nothing more unappealing than a bank of these rather basic necessities. Using our aged brass café curtain rails is a lovely and economical way to hide laundry essentials and create a softer feel to a working room. The final and most endearing feature is the deVOL Laundry Maid, laden with washing. This simple take on a traditional Sheila Maid was designed by Paul O’Leary, the founder of deVOL, around 30 years ago. He probably didn’t realise it at the time, but it was a side of deVOL that was going to become very special. Do take a look at our online shop, you may find by adding a few select items you can update your cupboards and your rooms very effectively.
