A little bit exotic and a little bit glam, our new Shaker Kitchen here at The Mill is quite a beautiful surprise. We have taken the opportunity to be a little bit different, the room is so atmospheric we wanted to create a completely different look for this kitchen. We painted the walls in Farrow and Ball ‘Charleston Gray’ to give a calm and soft feel to the room and that gave us the idea to introduce a new colour to our standard paint range. Everyone’s love of darker kitchens is not going away, so as a change from our beloved ‘Pantry Blue’ we decided to go for black, now named ‘Printer’s Black’.

It was such an easy room to design, which is so often the case when the bones of the building are so full of character, the windows in this room are amazing and the view, real English countryside at its best. So the copper sink had to be facing out of the window and the table had to be right under the window, this table is now about the best place to be in the whole Mill.

The San Simone quartzite worktop is bold and quite busy, but in this calm room with all the dark soft colours it just seems to work, it’s got character and a bit of sparkle. Mixed with the copper, which has a gentle glint when the sun shines it creates a whole new Shaker look. deVOL Shaker cupboards are so versatile and this new Mill House is a great display to give you a new and different take on this range.

We have incorporated our new Boho cup handles, Bum Stool and Crackle Pendant Light, everything just looks great, all the new deVOL products add a more eclectic and original feel to the room. When you sit at the table in this room you get a warm glow, the view, the glistening new kitchen and the moody feel, it’s a place you want to stay and open a book and just drink in the atmosphere.
